July 8 SwingColumbus on a Saturday Night
Welcome to the July edition of SwingColumbus on a Saturday Night. We are ecstatic to announce that MEGAN AND HER GOODY GOODIES will be playing for us as we dance the night away!
This dance is held at the Fourth Avenue Christian Church building in the lower-level ballroom. This is a special night and we encourage you to wear your fanciest duds!
SwingColumbus hosts Saturday Night Swing roughly once a quarter with a focus on great dancing, live music, and a special feel to provide a complimentary weekend dancing experience to Swingin’ Wednesdays.

June 14! Special Performance at Swingin’ Wednesdays!
We have a special performance from our Summer Performance group on June 14th!
SwingColumbus’ Summer Performance Group is back! This year Mark Calkins & Shannon Varner taught one of their favorite (and original!) routines, the Cement Mixer routine!
Haven’t danced before? No Problem. A beginner lesson is included in admission and will get you started to dance the rest of the night. No partner necessary.
7:30 – 8:00 PM : Beginner swing dance lesson
8:00 – 11:00 PM : Dance to DJs; special performance around 9:15 PM!

Absolutely NO OUTSIDE food and drink.

June 2017 Lindy Hop 102 & Charleston 102 with SwingColumbus
Join SwingColumbus for their June monthly lesson series! These 4-week lesson series are held THURSDAYS in June 2017. The lessons will be on Thursdays, starting June 1, with the final lesson being on June 22.
SwingColumbus strongly encourages their students to attend all four lessons, as there will be no make-up classes or refunds for classes missed.
You must attend the first class to join the entire series.
Lindy Hop 102 Series: 6:30 – 7:30 PM
This class is designed to be a great introduction into the style and technique of Lindy Hop. Whether you have taken a lindy hop class before or have never tried it, Lindy 102 will provide you with the foundations you need to swing out! There is no partner required for the series either!
Lindy 102 is a four-week progressive series, with each lesson lasting one hour.
Charleston 102 Series: 7:45 – 8:45 PM
This class is designed to be a great introduction into the style and technique of Charleston. Whether you have taken a lindy hop class before or have never tried it, Charleston 102 will provide you with the foundations you need to get on the dance floor, and kick it up, Charleston style! There is no partner required for the series.

May 2017 Lindy Hop 101 & Charleston 101 with SwingColumbus
Join SwingColumbus for the re-launch of their monthly lesson series! These 4-week lesson series are held THURSDAYS in May 2017.

Lindy Hop 101 Series: 6:30 – 7:30 PM
This month SwingColumbus is pleased to have Binaebi Calkins and Mark Vandevender teaching Lindy 101. Both Binaebi and Mark have been members of Team SwingColumbus and bring their unique and joyful styles to their teaching. Lindy 101 is also the starting point for our Lindy 100 series, allows for our students to spread out their learning over three classes. Keep an eye out for Lindy 102 and Lindy 103, coming later in 2017!
Charleston 101 Series: 7:45 – 8:45 PM
This month SwingColumbus is pleased to have Dan Hoy and Gail Clendenin teaching Charleston 101. Dan and Gail have been on Team SwingColumbus and were captains of the team this year. April 26 LIVE BAND! Mickey James and the Queen City Crew
Mickey James and the Queen City Crew is a high-energy, 6-piece band whose youthful & nostalgic look and sound will entertain music lovers of all ages, providing the perfect combination of Classic and Contemporary Swing, Jazz, R&B, blues, rock and roll, and many other styles. This powerhouse band provides a youthful flair to the classic sounds of, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darrin, James Brown, as well as the more contemporary sounds of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Michael Buble, current pop artists, and so much more!

April Monthly Lesson Series Taster
What is a “Taster?”
This FREE taster event will give the greater swing community an idea of what our monthly series will be like, including:
- Time frame
- Format
- Class level expectation
We hope this taster will help our dancers have a good feel for what to expect from lessons. We also hope to give you a strong idea of the “level” to best fit your current skills.
Early registration for our May series will be available at this event.
All Taster attendees will receive $5 registration!

April 12 LIVE BAND! Moonshine Rhythm Club
Live Band Night on April 12th, featuring the Moonshine Rhythm Club!
Moonshine Rhythm Club brings old-school swing and jazz to life with joyful arrangements and energetic playing that makes this vintage music sound like it was written this morning. The boys seek out deep cuts from the 30s and 40s, take their favorite parts from classic big band recordings, and distill them into their signature sound. That sound draws on the guitar-driven, acoustic fire of gypsy jazz, as well as the slow burn and laid-back groove of later artists like Count Basie and Nat “King” Cole. On top of this lays classy and hip vocals with a lighthearted humor.
